I'll share what I believe personally. Regardless who the AntiChrist is, our true hope and peace lie in Jesus Christ. Mention of the antichrist and end times should spur us on to a deeper, more intimate relationship with God, vs. reacting in fear or trepidation -- you know, keeping our eyes on our Problem Solver, not the problem. Jesus Christ conquered death and scripture clearly teaches the power and supremacy of God over everything!
To answer the specific questions, most theologians I have read believe the antichrist will arise from Europe, but no one knows for sure if or when, although speculate. Even if we knew today, we couldn't stop God's plans by voting a specific way. A few scriptures to read through include Revelation 13-17 and Daniel 11.
I believe we're to simply trust God, grow in our knowledge of Him, and to not worry about things we have no control over. You might find this a good read as well: click here to read .
Be encouraged! Jesus Christ is Lord of ALL!
"They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because He is Lord of lords and King of kings—and with Him will be His called, chosen and faithful followers."
Revelation 17:14
Thanks Alva...it's not that I'm worried about any of this...curious yes particularly in the specifications of the forty years of age and the antichrist being a muslim. Just wondering if anyone here has heard of this? I am completely with you on your post...thanks!
Hi, Danelle. I've been off GraceAlley for nearly a year, so forgive my late, late response to this post. I have read through Revelation several times and studied it somewhat. I do not think Revelation or any of the prophets said any such thing about the antichrist being muslim and 40 years old. There is an interesting scripture in Daniel 11:36-37 that some have said is a reference to the antichrist. From what I've learned from respected pastor/teachers, often prophetic scriptures make reference to something that is current or imminent but still refer to a "future" time as well. If so, this might be of interest to you. Verse 37 says, "He shall regard neither the God of his fathers nor the desire of women, nor regard any god; for he shall magnify himself above them all." You know it can lead to error when you isolate one scripture from the context of the whole, but it might be worth a study. All the other input you got from your original question is very encouraging and true -- regardless of Obama or any other "King," nothing comes to pass that hasn't already been filtered through the fingers of our Lord. What is to happen will happen, and the end times are a thing sure to come. All we can do is trust and say, "Come Lord Jesus, come."
I read the question and answer from Bible.org on the previous email I posted and apparently no one knows for sure so I'm not going to worry about it.
Another question. Would it be wrong if I didn't vote? I suppose I could vote for the best possible candidate hoping God would change his heart while in the presidency. We are supposed to pray for our leaders and participate in the elections. No one is without sin and we should have compassion and hope for the people in the world right? I think I will vote. What are you going to do folks? Just curious.
For so long I have prayed to feel really good about who I voted for as president. Sadly, there are times when I have felt that I am voting for the lesser of two evils.
There is no way that I could vote for a candiate who does not do everything possible to oppose partial birth abortions.
In the history of planned parenthood they have only endorsed two candiates for president. They have endorsed Barack Obama 100%.
Long before I learned about Obama's views on partial birth abortion, I had sensed that I would not be voting for him.
I can only say that early on, every time I would see him on tv or in print, I felt a drawing back inside.
Like when your spirit man lays against your spine. :)
Without going into a long story, I will say this:
My husband and I went into business with a couple who we " thought we knew." We had always been close thru church, and raised our children together. Since we were all "christians" we did not have a partnership agreement drawn up, and just took each other at our word. However, this couple was planning to move out of state, and never even mentioned this to us as we were discussing buying the business. Infact, they told us several days AFTER we signed to buy the florist, and signed to borrow ALOT of money from the bank.
The couple told us...they had great news..." Our dreams have come true," they began.
They even admitted that they had signed a letter of intent with the husband's company five days before we signed anything with the former owner or bank. But, they talked like they were doing us a big favor not telling us. They moved away and did not offer to pay for someone to come and do the work the wife had told us, and the bankers she would be handling.
I ran the business for 13 months...unable to hire help, and physically suffering I reached a point
where I was unable to keep going. It has been nearly a year since I ended my involvement in the business, and I am just now starting to feel rested and somewhat normal again.
Although the husband does not physically resemble Barack Obama...everytime I have heard Obama speak I think of the man who told us one thing, and did another.
Hey guess whos back!! Thats right...after a long hiatus...im finally back again...(somewhat...lol) I have to agree with forchristglorys comments...ultimately it is God who providentially directs the affairs of human history...
One day soon, the TRUE King, the RIGHTEOUSS Judge, the firstborn of the dead, the seed of David will sit on the throne..and THAT is what WE as CHRISTIANS should be campaigning for.
Can you believe after the questions I posted my pastor spoke about this very topic? It seems this happens everytime I have something heavy on my heart. Thank you Lord, for always setting me straight!
Specifically, Romans 13 speaks directly about government authorities and our role as Christians.
Romans 13
Submission to the Authorities
1Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. 4For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. 6This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing. 7Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.
So what I understand is this:
The church is the conscience of our country. Separation of church and state is not the constitutions ways of saying "stay out of matters that involve our country." Even if it was... as Christians we would be in great error if we didn't speak the truth bodly. Christians are not slaves to this country, just as Moses preached to Pharoah!
We should be good citizens:
-Pay taxes
-Pray for our government
-Praise and honor our government, not as an idol, but as gratitude "One Nation Under God"
-Participate in it, we lost prayer in schools because nobody fought against it!
It was ONE vote that determined if our country spoke German or English!
It was ONE vote that led the communist party in Russia resulting in Hitler's rule and tyrancy.
So the way I understand it, we have a duty as servants to our Holy God and to the people in this world. God forbid if we keep the truth for ourselves out of fear of nonbelievers or lack of hope for the people in this country!!
I know we are not a perfect people here in the United States of America nor our government (and who is anywhere?) but if we ever lost our country then we would truly see what we've lost. We have a lot to be grateful for, we need to act as members in it!
The sadest thing to me about his speach is there are so many people who agree with Obama's views of the Bible and Christianity. They are really missing the point.
In reference to Abraham obeying the Lord's request to sacrifice his son... his only son
Genesis 22:2
And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
For many years what I saw in this lesson was a lesson of obediance but it's so much more and deeper than that. It was an example of how much the Lord loves Jesus, His only son, and gave Him as a sacrifice for our sins.
Obama just took this as though God speaks to us all in different ways that we may not all understand and we need to compromise. Totally missed the point of what true Christianity is...
Unity is important and our pastor has been addressing this from the book of Romans chapter 14. It speaks about not bickering over controversial things... such as which day is the Sabbath... but to stand strong for the most important things such as Jesus Christ, The Kingdom of Heaven, love for our brother.
My heart goes back to Adam Johnson who posted a discussion about being over preached... this country is not hearing the gospel and we have churches everywhere. It just makes me sad.
Thanks for your concern, and you are correct. Unfortunate as though it may be, we are 'overgospeled' however, that which we are overgospeled with is NOT the gospel. So technically we are UNDERgospeled. (make sense?)
It is so difficult when one comes preaching such a happy go lucky doctrine.
Here is the verse that sums it up:
I John 2:19 (KJV)
They went out from us, but they were NOT OF US; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
keep in mind that this is said by an apostle, which means, no surprise, the world didnt even wait one generation to start perverting the gospel. This is also a explanation of the start of denominations. (granted, they may not have been named what they are today then, but look at the verse and it clearly states that they 'were not of us' )
I wanted to share the incredible testimony given by Pastor Mark Arnold of Monroe, Ohio. On September 9th, 2008 (6 weeks ago), God told him to go meet Sarah Palin and to deliver a message to her. All I can say is WOW. I was in tears reading it and you will be too. It really renewed my hope which lately has been wearing thin. I work for a company whose environment is very liberal...we have had several managers fired because they shared the Gospel or spoke of their belief in Jesus. The big screen tv in our employee break room is constantly tuned to CNN which assaults us all day long with their bias, lies and shameful abuse of power to promote a man that is not qualified to lead this country. Sometimes when we see and hear the enemy so much, we forget that our Savior is still Almighty, still in control of all things and still on the throne. So reading this testimony was the breath of hope and fresh fire that I needed. I hope you're as ignited and inspired as I am! It is really long but I wanted it to be presented in its entirety.
