Wow! Life definitely has a way of interrupting life!
It only took....
3 weeks
1 day
3 hospitals
2 ICU units
1 Step Down Unit
5 cardiologists
2 cardiac surgeons
1 neurologists
4 internists
1 hemo doc
2 pulmonary docs
numerous nurses
nurse managers
numerous PCTs
numerous transporters
numerous technicians
several X-rays
countless IVs
lots and lots of blood and platelet transfusions
4 doppler sonograms
2 blood clots
several days of congestive heart failure
several EKGs
blood labs
multiple respiratory treatments
a pulmonary effusion
a 14-hour detox (too much sedation and morphine given while in ICU)
lots of sleepless nights
2 missed vacations
2 missed musicals
several home health nurse visits
several in-home PT therapy appointments
countless prayers, calls, emails
amazing families also deeply rooted in their faith in Christ sharing the unending days blurring into a new day while living in the ICU waiting rooms (although there is little more unnerving than to be awaken during the middle of the night with a "CODE BLUE" page -- everyone would sit up in the dark and look around to see if it was for the loved one of "our new extended family").
.... to get Mom through a stress test leading to a heart cath that lead to a quadruple bypass surgery, followed a few hours later by a 2nd open heart surgery when she couldn't stop bleeding. We're now into our 2nd week of recovery at home and Mom has been making great progress in the past few days. Still a long way to go, but she's come so far too!
And tomorrow, I don't have to cook! One of my dear friends has called and she's bringing over her low-sodium, low-fat delish homemade soup for Mom! God truly does use others to bless us richly!
Thanks to our GraceAlley friends for your concerns, prayers, and friendship!
